Yea this I mentioned about cabby's the diesel ones get way to much of a premium put on them because of the gas mileage, the collectabilty and the ease of biofuel conversions. which you probably wouldn't do to this but wow that is very high.

Oh, I'd say it's a quality ride But I'd at least import a full interior from Brazil. Those Rabbits are basic.

Interesting. I figured a TDi ran about $2800 but integrating it into a older vehicle and make it look right, turnkey, not tinkery.

The shop in Nevada was selling TDI rabbit PU's as rebuild cars, and TDI Vanagons too. When the economy tanked he went back to Germany, were he also had a shop and parts buz. His work appeared better than go westy's but I have not seen one on a lift.

Does it have any of the subbie issues? Leaky water jacket, small bearing, and fire?

We have a real fire extinguisher in the westy, but I have only used it on a subbie fire. These fires seem to be from oil, or other non-fuel fluids. Recently I convinced one owner whose newish wagon was smoking badly from leaked fluids on the engine, to call for a wrecker.
